This fascinating account of the gangs of Birmingham from the 1800s up to the early 1900s tells a gritty story of violence, deprivation and lawlessness. Contained within the 276 pages are the tales of the slogging gangs of Birmingham and the real Peaky Blinders, as well as some of the horrific true life stories of violence against the Birmingham City Police, including the fatal assaults on PC William Lines and PC George Snipe. You had to be a very brave man to patrol the streets of Birmingham in the late 19th Century.
