As part of Coventry City of Culture 2021 we are proud to release a book celebrating the proud history of Coventry City Police.

The force was created in 1836 and the book charts the development of policing the city from Victorian times up to the 1969 amalgamation with Warwickshire Constabulary, before Coventry joined Birmingham and the Black Country as West Midlands Police.

Including the stories of the first female officers, first Black and Asian officers, heroes of the Coventry Blitz and fascinating stories such as the use of the police tricycle, the Chief Constable who was a former footballer and was capped for England and the introduction of police dogs in 1956, the book also includes lots of incredible pictures, many that have been shared by former officers and their families to help tell their stories.
