Back in 2018, one of our officers PC Tracey Dudley thought she would surprise her Dad with an unusual Christmas present. Chris Randell had retired as a police officer in 2006 after serving 30 years with West Midlands Police, and had spent part of his career in Sandwell where his daughter was now based.

Tracey decided to apply to change her collar number, the official number an officer is known by throughout their career, to match the number her father had proudly served under - 2461. She had thought of the idea when she joined but time quickly passed and before she knew it she had served 10 years under her original number.

She surprised him Christmas morning with a picture of her in uniform, displaying the new number with pride, and replicating an old picture of him in the same number.
