Future plans for West Midlands Police Museum at the Steelhouse Lane Lock-up

West Midlands Police are currently working on a National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) application to secure the funds needed to convert the Lock-up into the new permanent home of the West Midlands Police Museum. Below are some of the graphics put together by our museum consultants Campbell & Co and a drawing by our architects Latham Architects showing the potential future layout and use of the building. Our plan is to be open several days a week for walk-in customers, school groups, private group bookings, young people's groups and corporate events, to have more of our heritage on display than ever before and make it more accessible than has ever been possible before. The NLHF funding would allow us to achieve this vision and produce a fantastic attraction for Birmingham and the West Midlands to be proud of, that showcases policing heritage from around the West Midlands and delivers vital policing messages to young people to support a goal of having fewer victims of crime and fewer offenders.
