Sub-Commander Rowland Thomas Harman

The bombing overnight on the 9th/10th April was one of the most intense air raids experienced by Birmingham. Five police officers lost their lives in the city that night. Special Constabulary Sub-Commander Rowland Thomas Harman was one. Sub-Commander Harman had been elected to Birmingham City Council the previous October as a representative of Small Heath Ward. His role in the special constabulary saw him in charge of the motor section at Hay Mills Police Station.
