SC Ralph George Wilkinson

The bombing overnight on the 9th/10th April was one of the most intense air raids experienced by Birmingham. Five police officers lost their lives in the city that night. Special Constable R459 Ralph Wilkinson was one. A fruiterer by day, he was killed alongside his wife Edith when a bomb struck their home in Bordesley Green East. He had joined the special constabulary in June 1940 and was 50 years of age.
